Care Ministry

This ministry is primarily a ministry of prayer and presence. Whenever members of our faith community are hospitalized, in rehab, undergo surgery or suffer a loss, care ministry members follow up with phone calls, cards, visitation, and Communion if desired.

Anyone requesting prayer support should call or email Sandy at 847-987-8188 or slstillsee@aol.com.

Outreach & Social Justice Ministry

Through social action, our Community members attempt to live out the Gospel message of love and compassion toward all persons as lived by our brother, Jesus. I partnership with other non=profit social action organizations, we extend “outreach” of time and treasure through St. John XXIII projects and charitable drives throughout the year. These activities address local area needs and those of the inner city of Chicago. Examples include: stocking a local pantry, providing necessities for needy children, attending to the needs of immigrants living in the area, and allotting donations from our Community account to the work of our social action partners.

By address social, economic and environmental justice, we promote action through information about the issues, speaking out to those in power, and participation in demonstrations of solidarity with the poor and marginalized.

Examples of particular focus have been racial inequality, immigration, proposed budget and tax plans, and communication with elected leaders.

Additionally, many of our members are individually involved with PADS, Habitat for Humanity, food pantries, non-profit resale, mentoring programs, tutoring, counseling and inter-faith dialogue.

In partnership we claim the fight we can be to each other on this planet and the gift we can be to generations yet to come. We rejoice in the bonds of collaboration that join us together as a Community of love, mercy and justice.
